What is the Equipment Grant?

The equipment grant is money you can receive to cover the cost of necessary equipment for your education programme in upper secondary school. The required equipment varies a lot – and so does the amount of the grant.

Who can get the equipment grant?

You may be eligible for the equipment grant if you:

• Are enrolled in Vg1, Vg2 or Vg3
• Are under 21 years old
• Have not previously completed upper secondary school

How to apply for the equipment grant?

• Apply when you have been offered a school place and have accepted it
• Go to vigo.no or lanekassen.no
• Log in using MinID or BankID
• You only need to submit one application for all types of financial support – Lånekassen will automatically assess whether you are eligible for other grants or loans

How much do you get?

• The amount you receive depends on your education programme
• The full grant is paid in the first term (you’ll receive half if you apply for just one semester)

If you change your education programme

If you change to an education programme with a higher grant rate after you have applied for and been awarded an equipment grant, you must send a new application in order to receive payment of the difference.

Studying abroad

If you complete up to one year of upper secondary education abroad, you can receive the same amount in equipment grant as if you were following the programme in Norway.
