Key areas of work for the telecommunications installer involve the planning, development, installation and operation of systems and installations for public and private telecommunication networks, cable TV networks, computer networks, and systems for transmitting radio and satellite communications. It also involves installing equipment and providing services related to these networks. This vocation may be divided into the following fields:
The development and operations of
- communication cable systems, copper, fiber-optics, and hybrid cables
- telephone exchange switching centers
- alarms and security systems
The installation and operation of
- broadband services, digital and/or analogue services in the public and private telecommunications networks
- local computer networks (e,g, LAN, WLAN, WIFI)
- alarm, security, and control systems
