How to apply for an apprenticeship

You must apply

• apprenticeship placement at vigo.no
• directly to the company.

When applying for an apprenticeship placement on vigo.no, you must log in with MinID or BankID.

• MinID: Order an activation letter at eid.difi.no
• BankID: Contact your bank.

Apprentice: March 1 *
Training candidate: February 1 *
* If the deadline falls on a Saturday or Sunday, it will be extended to the following Monday.

• The county authority will try to match you with companies offering apprenticeships in the subject you applied for.
• You may also be referred to apprenticeship positions in related subjects based on your Vg2 program.
• It is the company itself that decides who will be offered an apprenticeship.
• You will normally be invited to an interview.
  Remember to stay available by phone as long as placement is ongoing — until around September 1.

• Remember that the company must send a confirmation to the county authority.
• If you decline an offer that the county has arranged for you, you are not entitled to receive further offers.

If you do not receive an apprenticeship offer, contact the vocational training office in your county. Stay available by phone until around September 1 while placements are still being made.

If you get an agreement with a company, always remember to send written confirmation from the company by post to the admissions office or vocational training office in your county.

Some occupations have special requirements, and you must usually meet these to get an apprenticeship.
Examples include a police certificate, or requirements for vision or hearing. Read about the personal qualities and formal requirements for the trades you are interested in before applying.

• Companies often call to arrange interviews, so make sure to keep your phone on and be reachable during the entire placement period.
