For a qualified farrier, the work mostly involves shoeing all types of horses, either by going on-site to the customer or with a stationary smithy.

Key tasks include:

• Cutting and trimming of hooves, also barefoot trimming
• Fitting of correct horseshoes on the hoof, using hot and cold techniques
• Fitting of horseshoes with correct seam size
• Acquiring knowledge and skills in using new working methods and materials
• Customer service
• Maintenance of equipment and premises used in the enterprise

You should be comfortable and good with animals. You should be dexterous and physically strong.
