Medical orderlies transport patients and equipment inside the health institution. Key tasks are being able to:

• transport and move patients and users in a professional, safe and secure manner
• understand and follow medical supervision and instructions from the doctor in charge or other authorized health personnel
• prevent the dissemination of contagion and maintain good hygiene in accordance with the prevailing rules and regulations
• observe and report any possible changes in the patient’s and user’s condition
• use different strategies for dealing with conflicts
• communicate with people in traumatic and reactive critical situations
• handle relevant drugs and medical technical equipment
• transport samples and blood products in accordance with the prevailing regulations and guidelines
• follow ergonomic principles in the performance of their profession

You must communicate with and show care for patients, users and family members. You must have the ability to work under time pressure and at times under mentally and physically demanding conditions.
