Crafts, design and product development

A potter develops, produces and sells ceramic objects based on customers’ needs, traditions, fashions and trends, and HSE guidelines and regulations, in accordance with their own creative abilities. Key tasks include:

• Conception, design and product development
• Preparation of clay materials, decoration and glazes; also the cleaning of equipment and workshops
• Making objects in a variety of techniques
• Decoration, glazing and firing, finishing, display, packing and despatching
• Cooperation with customers and suppliers, guidance, information and training
• Sales and marketing of products and services, daily operation of the enterprise and networking

You must enjoy physical and messy work and environments. You must be dexterous, meticulous, creative and practical, with a sense of form and colour and staying power. You also need to be customer-oriented and be able to provide good service.
