Building and construction

Key tasks include:

• erecting scaffolds as working platforms and access ramps for other tradesmen at new sites
• erecting scaffolds around existing buildings
• project planner, supervisor and coordinator
• erecting scaffolds for land-based and/or oil related offshore industries
• rigging, strapping, and planning for the lifting of cranes
• industrial climbing, using climbing equipment and mounting works using access techniques

The work involves physical and mental challenges when working at ground level and at heights. A scaffolder should be able to lift heavy weights and have a high degree of technical insight and know-how. The scaffolder is an important factor in preventing accidents and should be familiar with scaffolding regulations. You should be able to work systematically. Language skills and knowledge of other cultures are of great benefit in this trade.
