The right to upper secondary education and training

Those who have completed primary school or equivalent education are entitled to upper secondary education. This also applies to those who have completed upper secondary education in another country, but do not have their education recognized as a qualification in Norway. The right applies until you have achieved university admission certification or vocational competence.

If you wish to apply for upper secondary education after you turn 24 (the school year starting the year you turn 24), it is upper secondary education for adults that applies.

Retake subjects that have already been passed

Retaking passed subjects is not covered by the right to upper secondary education. If you have passed a subject, you cannot retake it to improve your grade.
