Folk high schools

Folk high schools offer an alternative form of education without grades or exams. This is an opportunity to learn more about specific interests such as art, music, sports, travel, or outdoor life. Some choose a year at a folk high school as a break between upper secondary and higher education.

Most folk high school students are between 18 and 25 years old, but some schools also accept students under 18. Evje folkehøgskole and Sjøholt folkehøgskole have a minimum age limit of 16. There is no upper age limit at any folk high school. There are schools with a variety of programs all over the country.
