The tasks of a refrigeration and heat pump fitter are installing, start-up, pre-setting adjustment, review, and maintenance of cooling units, freezers, and heat pump installations with appurtenant water distribution, electrical, and automated control systems.

These functions are carried out in areas such as the following:

• food and beverage industries – refrigerators and freezers in food production plants, conservation/preservation, and storage
• commercial cooling and freezer counters and climate systems in stores and shopping centers
• maritime refrigeration and freezer installations, including cruise ships with climate systems
• refrigeration and freezer rooms for institutional health services, the hotel business, and catering
• mobile refrigeration units (for cars, trains, ships, and airplanes)
• refrigeration systems for large computer control panels/centres

You should be able to work systematically, independently and together with others. You should be meticulous, good at working with your hands, and have a keen interest in technology.
