A nautical instrument maker constructs, maintains and repairs nautical and oceanographic instruments such as ship’s compasses, bearing plates and instruments used in marine research. Key tasks include:

  • Use of stationary machines and hand tools, calibration equipment and measuring instruments
  • Preparation and use of drawings and ICT in the work (CAD/CAC – computer assisted design/construction)
  • Production of parts 
  • Evaluation and quality assurance of work processes and products
  • HSE
