Filigree silversmith (journeyman’s certificate)

A filigree silversmith works with jewellery and decorative costume silver. The everyday tasks of a filigree silversmith are characterized by many challenging handicraft skills. Key tasks include:

• Production and repair, restoration, reconstruction and copying of jewellery and decorative costume silver
• Machining and working of materials – smelting, rolling, forging and extrusion
• Soldering of small and large curl and wirework, twisting and forming of silver thread into braids, decorative threading and curling
• Constructing and marking traditional silver brooches 
  
• Stock evaluation and purchasing
• Direct customer relations and communication

This craft requires dexterity and a good aesthetic appreciation.
