Shoemaker (journeyman’s certificate)

Shoemakers repair and maintain footwear. They also repair bags, belts, suitcases, harnesses and other leather products.
Key tasks include:

• Repair of footwear and other leather products
• Orthopaedic adaptations/alterations to shoes for special needs
• Use of appropriate tools for the various types of work
• Advice and guidance on the correct maintenance of leather products
• Maintenance of machinery and tools used in the workshop
• Maintenance of machinery and tools used in the workshop
