Upholsterers work mainly on special assignments such as restoration of period furniture, production of new types of furniture and re-upholstering of newer, factory-produced furniture. This places demands on the upholsterer’s sense of form and colour. Key tasks include:

• Re-upholstering and stuffing/padding of all types of furniture
• Cutting and sewing of cushions and loose covers
• Advice and guidance on the restoration of hand-made and antique furniture
• Guidance in the selection of textiles/hides in regard to quality and intended use
• Evaluation and pricing of assignments
• Drafting of complete working drawings and work in accordance with them
