Restaurant and food processing

As a fresh food specialist, you work with food and beverages, handling and processing raw ingredients and preparing food at the fresh food counter. Key tasks include:

• assessing and handling a wide range of raw ingredients
• cutting, portioning and filleting meat and fish
• producing ready-to-eat meals and delicatessen products
• preparing minced meat and other meat preparations
• operating specialised tools, machinery and equipment used in food production
• advising and guiding customers on ingredients, preparation methods and meal solutions
• working with product presentation, merchandising and upselling in the store

A fresh food specialist must have interest in and knowledge of food and the food industry. You must work in a structured way with good hygiene. A fresh food specialist is the customer’s advisor, and it is therefore important to provide good customer service and to be interested in sales.
