These are apprentice trades which are so small that no Vg2 can be established for them. With special path subjects, you take only Vg1 at school, followed by three years of apprenticeship at a training establishment, with two years of training and one year of value creation – four years altogether. During your apprenticeship you must also have lessons in programme subjects and common core subjects. There are compulsory examinations in programme subjects at Vg2 level, and you can also be selected for examinations in common core subjects (Norwegian, English and social science).
As a rule, there are few available placements for special path subjects. So if you are applying for a special path subject, you should also apply for other relevant Vg2s. You will find the special path subjects in the description of the various education programmes.
