Schooling in other counties

The main rule is that you must apply and be offered a placement in the county you live in.* However, it is still possible to apply for a placement in other counties.

Schemes where applicants have equal priority

Some neighbouring counties have special agreements for offering places across the county boundaries. Such agreements may apply to a specific group of applicants, e.g. applicants who live near a school in the neighbouring county. You can read more about this in the information from your county below.
Applicants from all counties may apply to national courses or nationwide programmes
Applicants from all counties may apply to and as well as .

If you apply for a school placement that is covered by the schemes mentioned above, you compete on an equal footing with other applicants, regardless of whether you live in the county where the school is or not.

* It is the address you are registered at in the National Register on 1 March (or another date the county has stipulated) that applies. If you are going to move with or to your parents/guardians in another county after the application deadline, you must contact in this county for information about which rules and documentation requirements that apply. Applicants from other counties are prioritized lower than those who live in the county

In addition to the schemes mentioned above, it is possible to apply for a school place in another county than where you live, but you will be prioritized lower than those who live in the county.

The following rules apply when you apply for a place in another county:

You must register a separate application on vigo.no that is entered in the county where the school lies.
The applicants who live in the county are offered placements first.
After this, applicants with priority from other counties are offered placements.*
If there still are vacant places at the school and programme area you are applying to, you may compete your way in based on your grades.
If there are vacant places and the county can offer you a place, you will in most cases not be notified about this before the final admission in August.

* Prioritized applicants from other counties (prioritized guest pupil)

Applicants with rights as a young person with weighty social or educational reasons to go to school in another county than their home county may apply to be awarded priority in this county (this is called prioritized guest pupil).
Applicants with rights as a young person with the right to be taught in Sami, and who need to go to school in another county to receive teaching in Sami/instruction using Sami or in special Sami subjects, may also apply to be prioritized.
Contact in the county where the school lies for more information about conditions and procedure and information about how you apply. Register the application itself on vigo.no, enter it in the county where the school lies.

Information from Innlandet

Innlandet har samarbeidsavtaler med flere fylker

Møre og Romsdal

Hvis du har ungdomsrett og er bosatt i Lesja kommune, kan du søke på lik linje med søkere fra Møre og Romsdal fylke til Rauma videregående skole. Møre og Romsdal er ikke pliktig til å gi deg skoleplass, og du bør derfor også søke skoleplass i Innlandet fylke.

Trøndelag

Hvis du har ungdomsrett og er bosatt i Tolga, Os, Alvdal, Folldal, Rendalen eller Tynset kommune kan du søke til Røros videregående skole på lik linje med søkere fra Trøndelag. Trøndelag er ikke pliktig til å gi deg skoleplass, og du bør derfor også søke skoleplass i Innlandet fylke.

Vestland

Hvis du har ungdomsrett og er bosatt i Skjåk kommune, kan du søke på lik linje med søkere fra Vestland fylke til Stryn vidaregåande skule. Vestland er ikke pliktig til å gi deg skoleplass, og du bør derfor også søke skoleplass i Innlandet fylke.

Søkere fra Jevnaker og Lunner

Hvis du har ungdomsrett og er bosatt i Lunner eller Jevnaker kan du søke til Hadeland videregående skole og få søknaden din behandlet på lik linje med søkere bosatt i Innlandet 1. mars. Men du har ikke rett til et skoletilbud i Innlandet fylke, og du må derfor også søke i Viken hvor du har ungdomsrett og garanti for skoleplass.

Du behøver ikke søke status som prioritert gjesteelev i Innlandet hvis du kommer inn under denne ordningen.

Kjøp av skoleplass i annet fylke

Innlandet fylkeskommune (IFK) vil innvilge søknad om kjøp av skoleplass i annet fylke hvis du har ungdomsrett i Innlandet fylke og du oppfyller minst en av følgende betingelser:

Du søker et tilbud som ikke finnes i Innlandet
Du søker tilbud som finnes i Innlandet, men har tungtveiende pedagogiske eller sosiale grunner for å søke skoleplass i annet fylke

I tillegg må du sende inn søknadsskjema “Søknad om kjøp av skoleplass i annet fylke” og registrerer kjøp av skoleplass som førsteprioritet i Vigo før 1. mars.

Viktig: Selv om IFK stiller seg positiv til å kjøpe skoleplass, er det ingen garanti for kjøp siden det er opp til den enkelte fylkeskommunen å avgjøre om de ønsker å selge. Inntakskontoret har erfaring med hvilke skoleplasser det er mulig å få kjøpt. Ta derfor gjerne kontakt med enhet for inntak og skoletilbud i Innlandet fylkeskommune og få mer informasjon om dette før du søker om kjøp av skoleplass.

I enkelte tilfeller kan IFK få kjøpt kun en skoleplass selv om flere søkere fra Innlandet ønsker det samme tilbudet. Da vil flere søkere fra innlandet kunne komme til å konkurrere om den ene plassen. Husk å sende inn “Søknad om kjøp av skoleplass i annet fylke”.

Registrer søknad i det andre fylket når tilbud finnes i Innlandet

Innen søknadsfristen må du registrere søknad i Vigo både i Innlandet fylke og skolefylket.

Før du søker om at IFK kjøper plass til deg, bør du først søke skolefylket om status som prioritert gjesteelev. Ta kontakt med aktuelt skolefylke hvis du trenger mer informasjon om hvordan du skal gå frem for å søke om dette. Hvis du får avslag, kan du sende inn “Søknad om kjøp av skoleplass i annet fylke”.
