A watchmaker does retail store work, marketing and product profiling. Key tasks include:

• Advising customers on the selection of watches/clocks and other timepieces as well as other products and services
• Determining whether doing repairs is worthwhile
• Repair and maintenance of wall clocks, pendulum clocks, pocket watches and mechanical and electronic wristwatches
• Replacement of batteries, with seal and case control and pressure testing
• Case repair/maintenance
• Fitting and repair of various watch straps and clasps

You must be meticulous, dexterous, thorough and systematic, and you must be able to provide good customer service.
