A brazing craftsman works with brass or bronze materials cast in sand or moulds. The brazing craftsman constructs furniture and building fittings such as hardware, signs and handles, as well as candelabra, chandeliers and smaller art objects, usually in smaller quantities (up to 50 pcs.). Other metals are also used, e.g. copper, nickel silver, aluminium and iron. Key tasks include:
- Drafting and construction of casting models and core moulds
- Mixing of sand, construction of sand moulds, inlets and spouts
- Selection of metal alloys, metal smelting and casting
- Machining of mechanically cast objects by filing and turning
- Surface treatment by milling, polishing and lacquering
- Repair, restoration and maintenance of brass or bronze objects
