An airplane engine mechanic works on aircraft motors, piston engines, or gas turbines, and works with very expensive parts.
Key tasks include:
- planning and executing inspections, troubleshooting, servicing, adjustments, dismounting, mounting, crack controls, repairs, locking, securing, modifications, functions testing, packing, checking, conservation, and tool checks
- conservation and preparing motors for storage and transport
- mounting and dismounting motors at test-drive plants and on or in aircrafts
- handling parts
- assessment and documentation of one's own work and that of others, and reporting/follow-up of faults and deviations
- cooperation, guidance, and training
