Electrical engineering and computer technology

Electricians’ education and training qualifies them – both formally and technically – to work with electrical low-voltage systems, electrical equipment, and electrical installations used in the distribution and consumption of electrical energy in areas such as the following:

• houses and other dwellings
• commercial venues such as offices, shops, manual trade workshops, and service enterprises
• public enterprises
• industry, agriculture, and maritime vessels
• oil and gas plants
• alarms and security systems

If you are going to work as an electrician on Norwegian ships, fishing vessels and moveable equipment you must meet the requirements regarding safety training and documentation of the STCW Convention. You must also have an approved health certificate issued by an authorized doctor for seamen.
