A glassblower creates objects from drawings and samples, cooperates with others and plans, implements and evaluates tasks. A glassblower carries out his work in the presence of customers and visitors and works in accordance with his own and others’ HSE requirements and regulations.

On the ”hot” side, the glass craftsman is engaged in

• Blowing bowls for wineglasses and tumblers for further hot/cold forming and shaping, or production of glass art
  
• Following the various stages in production processes, such as pressing, casting and spinning
  
• Making glass ovens ready by preparing the glass and equipment, e.g. the blowing supports, pipes, shears, moulds and rubbing materials

On the ”cold” side, the glass craftsman works with cold working of glass for further shaping

• Uses various techniques for knife-and-scissors grinding or flat grinding, engraving, etching and sandblasting of glass

• Draws and paints various motifs and decoration, freehand and according to pattern

This a practical craft, one that requires dexterity, precision and a good aesthetic appreciation, as well as the ability to get along well with others.
