A wood products carpenter should be able to create, read, and understand working drawings and specifications, and be able to choose the correct materials, tools, and equipment. This vocation was once a manual trade, but now the mechanical aspect is far more prominent than the manual labour aspect. Computer-controlled machines are widely used, and computer know-how is important. You should be able to work independently, be thorough and meticulous, creative, and have a sense for aesthetics.
