Building and construction

This vocation involves everything from manual labour to the use of technologically advanced machines. End-products are often monuments, paving stones for exteriors, or different types of elements for building purposes. Key tasks include:

• quarry enterprises and the extraction of natural stones
• working of stone into slate sheets, blocks, or finished products
• mounting
• handling and transport
• professional drawings
• use and maintenance of machines and equipment

The mason should be able to work independently, rationally and systematically. He should also be able to assess whether the work is consistent with users’ and society's needs. He should be good with his hands, have an understanding of environmental and natural resources, be meticulous, and preferably have a keen sense of aesthetics.
