Adapted Education for All

Adapted education is a fundamental principle and not an individual right for each student. The school must provide an education that accommodates both the community and each individual student, ensuring that students gain the best possible benefit from their education. All students must have opportunities to learn and develop, regardless of their abilities.

The training company must ensure adapted education for those who have an apprenticeship within the company.

Some students have a greater need for adaptation in education than what is provided to everyone. This is called individualized accommodation.

Individualized Accommodation

Individualized accommodation is divided into several rights:

  • Individually adapted education
  • Personal assistance
  • Physical accommodation, technical aids, and training in mobility

A student may need accommodation related to one or more of these rights. These rights are individual, and to qualify for individualized accommodation, the student must receive a decision.

Individually Adapted Education

Individually adapted education may involve working with alternative competence goals, having alternative content in the education, and/or organizing the education in a different way.

Personal Assistance

Personal assistance involves practical help and support from a person who can accompany and assist the student during the school day. The extent of this can vary and may include assistance with:

  • Keeping up with the educational content
  • Participating in social activities during breaks
  • Communication
  • Mobility, carrying bags and equipment
  • Dressing and undressing
  • Meals
  • Toilet visits

Physical Accommodation, Technical Aids, and Mobility Training

Such accommodations may include, for example:

  • Physical adaptation of the workplace or classroom
  • Technical aids
  • Furniture
  • Technical equipment and software
  • Necessary training to enable the student to use the equipment

Students Who Are Blind or Severely Visually Impaired

Students who are blind or severely visually impaired and have the right to necessary training in technical aids or mobility are entitled to additional hours beyond the ordinary schedule if needed. This is stated in the Education Regulations § 1-4. Primary school students may be entitled to up to 1,525 hours, and upper secondary school students may be entitled to up to 456 hours

Særskilt tilrettelagt opplæringstilbud

Hvis du i videregående opplæring har behov for mål som avviker fra nasjonale læreplaner og som forutsetter et alternativt innhold og tilrettelegging i større deler av opplæringen, kan du ha rett til fortrinn inn til en skole som er særskilt tilrettelagt. Dersom du har behov for et særskilt tilrettelagt videregående skoletilbud, anbefaler vi at du søker inntak til en av fylkeskommunens 11 skoler som er særskilt tilrettelagt.

På bakgrunn av sakkyndig vurdering fra PPT og i samarbeid med foresatte, utarbeider skolen individuell opplæringsplan (IOP) for deg som elev.

Målene i IOP kan være knyttet til ferdigheter innenfor dagliglivets aktiviteter på områder som for eksempel:

  • Egenomsorg (å kunne ta vare på deg selv, kropp og helse)
  • Kommunikasjon (å kunne gjøre deg forstått og forstå andre)
  • Nærhet og samhørighet (å ha kontakt med og tilhørighet til andre mennesker)
  • Sosial kompetanse
  • Praktiske ferdigheter
